Viridis Laboratories grows Bay City team

Field, laboratory technicians use technology and science to ensure cannabis products are safe, effective

BAY CITY — Viridis Laboratories, the leading provider of cannabis testing in Michigan, has recently hired four new employees at its Bay City location.

Hunter Glysz, Kyleigh Cumming and Tate Vineyard joined the team as laboratory technicians, and Mark Sylvester was hired as a field technician.

“At Viridis, every member of our team plays a critical role in helping cannabis manufacturers provide safe, high-quality products to their patients and adult-use customers,” said Greg Michaud, CEO at Viridis. “Working as a team, we help ensure their customers are confident the products they use are effective and safe.”

Field technicians work directly with cannabis manufacturers to ensure samples are collected using proper methods with protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination. Laboratory technicians prepare samples for scientific analysis, measure water activity and inspect samples for foreign matter such as metal and wood.

“Accurate testing is crucial to the safety and effectiveness of cannabis products for patients and adult-use consumers,” said Dr. Michele Glinn, chief science officer at Viridis. “Our rigorous testing helps cannabis businesses sell products that are consistently free of harmful chemicals and foreign matter, including pesticides, chemical residue, mold, excess stalks, insects, metal fragments, heavy metals, toxins and more.”

Viridis employs 30 highly trained technicians in its Bay City and Lansing labs.
